An Updated Astrometric Measurement of 07204-5219 RMK 6 AB with analysis using GAIA DR3 and Speckle ToolBox

Abstract

07204-5219 RMK 6 AB has a proposed orbit in the Sixth Catalog of Orbits of Visual Binary Stars and also has a published rectilinear motion plot. The nature of 07204-5219 RMK 6 AB was further investigated using a current measure and GAIA DR3 data. 07204-5219 RMK 6 AB was imaged using the Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) network of telescopes. Calibrated images were obtained and analysed using the software AstroimageJ to determine separation, position angle and delta magnitude. Using the GAIA DR3 data and apparent separation reported in this paper, physical distance separation was estimated. In addition, the Harshaw rating and distance probability estimation were calculated. WDS historical data, the measure presented in the current paper and the published orbital parameters were imported into Speckle ToolBox and orbital optimisation was performed. No change occurred in the orbital parameters following optimization. The measure presented in the current paper fits with the published rectilinear motion plot. Given the calculated physical distance separation, the pair is unlikely to be gravitationally bound, however the possibility of a very wide, extremely long period binary cannot be excluded.
