Astrometric Observations of WDS 08490+2341 Using the Great Basin Observatory
Abstract
WDS 08490+2341 is a two-component system with 12 historical observations. For this paper we captured 20 images of the system and used AstroImageJ to measure the separation and position angle of the stars. We made a graph comparing our observations to the previous 12, and found a strong correlation with a polynomial line of best fit. However, we later found that the chronological path that the system followed did not make sense in the context of a binary system. The similar proper motion and radial velocities for the A and B components suggest that these stars are part of a larger moving group, if not a binary system.
